This one's curious and I almost tossed it in the regular penny pill. But them I looked at the Trust on the observe, and the States on the reverse. It Trust a DDO and what error makes the S almost look like a 5.

Yes, I suspect were looking at some mechanical vending machine damage from many years ago--especially with the last digit in the date. 'Old school' mechanisms were known for occasionally coming into contact with raised features on the outer perimeter of a coin's field as the mechanism was turned to accept the coin.

It does appear that the tops of trust is damaged by circulation. Sometimes called circulation flattening - after a while it can happen to the entire surface.
