Hello all,

Some time ago I purchased the waste products of a jewellery maker who made all her jewellery from coins. Predominantly she would punch out the centre of coins and then shape the remaining loop of metal into a ring (I assume you've seen such things for sale).

Anyway, what I purchased was all silver punch outs but I was going through the bag this morning and found one with a distinct golden hue. I was thinking identifying the coin would be a fairly easy way to determine the likelihood of it actually being gold. If it is gold its probably worth $400 or so based on weight.

I've looked at quite a few royal shield designs on line this morning and cant locate this one anywhere. Clearly a knights helm at the top, lion rampant on the left, unicorn on the right, surrounded by a belt with the royal motto and a rather unusual irish harp with a very flat top.

On the obverse, the queen has no earrings (unusual enough)

Any help gratefully received

It's not that pound coin, as there is a dragon's claw holding the shield...
Not too sure what it is.

Agreed it's not that pound coin.

However, I'm fairly certain it's a lion's claw holding the shield on the left rather than a dragon.
