1982 D Lincoln Cent - Is This A Wdoubled Die Obverse / DDO -002?

Lady_K_Seeker New Member United States 36 Posts	Posted 03/17/2023 11:12 am I found this 1982 D large date Lincoln Cent with very fat letters on "In God We Trust." It seems to match the picture of the 1982 D WDDO-002, but I can't see it well enough to verify if any of the die marks are there. If nothing else, can I at least assume that this penny is from a doubled die and the fat letters are not just a result of squishing by circulation? Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 03/17/2023 11:52 am The large dates had the large devices, thus the term, Large Date. The DDO is actually larger than those devices: This is from the Philly mint. Your coin is from Denver. Your coin also has circulation flattening, the makes the base of the devices look larger, when they really aren't. A mild level of grease in the lower areas of the devices can also make the devices look wider. But when compared to the DDO, then you can see the devices are normal sized.
