Just purchased my first lot of error coins, most have easy PUP but some don't. I know that the Pro's can guide me though these anomalies. Posting one tonight. Comes to me as 43 LWC DDR 10-R-11 but I'm just not seeing it.

At a glance I'd say the right edge of the right wheat stalk is thicker, but not enough to convince me of a DDR. Nice condition!

Nice die crack on the left wheat, 'terminating' at the rim.

Unlike some years for DDRs, 1943 is done up pretty nicely on VV. Lots of die markers for most of the dies and easy to use. DDR-010 has multiple die markers shown to compare to your coin. Of note your coin looks like class II doubling to me, not class VI, which maybe would narrow down your search.

Always best to check all three-reference sites, every time always.

I do see the die crack and I've spent much time checking the VV & Wexler's references without results of spotting any relevant PUP's shown in these two sites. It's getting a bit frustrating and admittedly I'm a "newbie" to Varieties. Heck I don't even understand what class II and VI or this nomenclature labeling method applied to Varieties. Since I just purchased 69 different Varieties it's time to learn. By the way John1 is the third reference error-ref.com?

I might suggest, based on your comments and seemingly high interest level, that you read this page on the Wexler site, and click into each of the different classes of doubled dies at that point. Knowing how these things happen and the different classes is really helpful in the long run. Varieties are a fairly steep learning curve in the beginning, but if you have 69 of them sitting around that will shorten your learning time a lot as you have real examples to reference as you go. Of note, the die class for each doubled die is given in the Variety Vista listing. You put in the title of this thread DDR 10-R-11. It's actually the letters "II" not the numbers "11" at the end of that. It tells you that die 10 is on the reverse and is a class II doubled die.

Edited as I seem to have forgotten to include the link

Copy all, I'm learning as I go. Thanks for all you're inputs and references. I understand the learning curve is steep I guess I should pop open my CherryPickers Guide a little more often also. I'm likely to post more pics on grading side of the house once I identify types & variations. Don't want to bog down this site with to many known examples. Obviously it might be to tempting with some of these Proof's and BU's, especially once I secure a good scope. Hopefully I won't sit on this like a hen on her nest.

What I didn't see until used new scope. Found (similar) photos on Variety Vista, coppercoins does not list this one. 1943 DDR-010-II confirmed, agreed?

Interesting. The die crack to the O of ONE looks pretty good, but the die crack from the rim to the right wheat looks to come in about a wheat grain too high on your coin. It's gotta match or can't be the same die so worth putting it back under the scope to verify.

Yes and no mention of Die Crack on left Wheat Ear in initial picture for this post. I don't know what to think. I'll re-examine it tomorrow.

Nice coin and great images. Very clear. And that's a nice DDR.

I'll mention that the die crack over VDB isn't a match to DDR-010 either.
Die cracks can be very helpful but frustrating when they don't match exactly.

For some reason, die cracks seem to be prevalent in certain areas of the dies for certain years.
(die chips on the "T" & die scratches inside the "C" of CENT,)
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.
