Greek I think.

First side is an image of the nativity.
Second side is an image of the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist.

Yes, it is a religious medal.

The scene on the second side is famous in renaissance art, and also was used on large silver coins of the Grand DUchy of Tuscany in the 1600s.

Could be a token or a coin. I've seen one other on Numista with very little identification. I have my strong doubts that it is that old though. Very cool nonetheless!
