can anyone tell if there is doubling on the word liberty on this coin? It appeared to me that there was possible doubling after comparing with other photos online..

It looks more like damage to me.
The ring going through the letters is caused by some
sort of machine like vending or coin wrapping.

There are two know doubled dies for the 1936 Philly. Sorry, but this not one of them.
It appears a Coin Wrapping Machine plowed through the word Liberty,distorting the letters.

Note the two listings for the Variety Vista Site:

Note the bottom of the 'L's on Liberty? Yours is showing possible vending machine damage or coin wrapper damage. Note the fields are showing the incuse mark on that area.
