I got this coin from circulation sometime in the last 60 years, and either tossed it in a small case with plastic drawers until I got 50 then rolled it, or I put it in a 2x2. I learned you weren't supposed to clean coins so they were put away with whatever crud was on them. If you've seen some of my other coloured cents, storing them the way they were stored (+cellulose tape) led to many getting different reds and other colours.
I started going through my extra cents and found it somewhere recently after finding other off-colour coins in my hoard.
http://goccf.com/t/429803 This coin had crud on it over the streaky area of the reverse, thus the reason I put "stain" in the title. The darker lines on the obverse are really from a fingerprint (not mine). It was an ugly, dirty coin, and since it only cost me 1 cent, and had a fingerprint, I took a toothbrush and rust remover and gave it a good rub, rinsed it in hot water and then dried it on my t-shirt. Like the movie stars, I pose the coins so so they look their best. I'll post another soon that shows the angle makes all the difference.
