Last weekend I went to the monthly coin show and made a few purchases. I got to talking to my friend who is a vendor there and told him what I've been collecting and when I mentioned that I really enjoyed looking for errors and defects in coins, he told me that he had a whole whack of American cents he just wanted to get rid of. The key dates and higher priced coins had been pulled but he didn't had the time or energy to search for errors, and offered the remaing coins to me. We struck a deal for 1800 pre-1960 wheats and 2500 post-1950 memorials (as well as a small handful of Canadian silver and a couple of shinplasters) and he delivered them to me yesterday. Well, I spent last evening and this evening going through the pre-1960 ones and was pretty happy with the results. I've found several lamination errors, rpm's, and other interesting items in the pile. I've sorted them and have a nice pile of "S" mm's. The majority are from the 40's (about 50%), then 50's (40%) and the remaing teens, 20's and 30's.
I'm anxious to get started on the post-1960's but I think I'll leave that for the weekend.
