@gig, to me that smearing of them metal means that the rim is damaged, so not a mint error. Too bad as it sounds like the coin is in great shape otherwise.

Look at how the rim gets wider though....if it was scraped post-mint, the rim wouldnt be wider

If it couldn't happen when the coin was struck, then it is damage, not an error. Yours is damage.

I hear you, but it looks to me like the metal from the rim has been smeared down over the field of the coin. This is especially evident in your last picture.

There will be several other folks weighing in over the course of the couple hours. Please keep checking back and perhaps the consensus will be different from my opinion.

In cases like this one, it is imperative to be able to see the entire coins surface, not just small parts of it.

so until I see better - this is just damage.

Yes, full--large and sharp--pics of the obverse and reverse would be very welcome. At this point, I think we're looking at post-strike damage.

Just post mint damage. It didn't leave the mint looking like this. Just damage.
