Is it completely unreasonable to think that I will be able to obtain all of the 2009 Lincoln cents from circulation at some point? Perhaps arranging a nice "P" for "D" swap with a west coaster?

I read all the posts about how these are going to be in short supply and a bit of panic sets in. But, come on - they still are going to probably mint close to a billion of each type and mint mark, don't you think?

Is it foolish to wait to grab a few of these "the old fashioned way"?

KenKat, you got it. I'll swap my Denver mint for your Philadelphia mint Lincoln cents.

I am going to try and get mine from circulation and over the counter from banks. $13.90 shipped for a dollars worth of cents amounts to legal extortion in my opinion. Sorry Ken east coaster here so P mints are all I can get also. I am working on getting a box set aside when my bank gets them. Will you be interested in trading a few rolls matchbox? That is if I can get em'

Tim, sure I can send you a few Denver mint rolls, but I don't want that many in return. I would only want a few circulated of each different Lincoln 2009 Philadelphia mint cents. I'm not that big of a collector and I'm not a dealer.

However I don't know when the D mint will appear around here since they're dragging their feet releasing them. Like you, I check with the bank now and then, and plan on getting the rolls over the counter. So when they finally appear here I'll see what I can do about getting 2-4 rolls. I do want to open a roll and trade with others.

I live in eastern Iowa and often see both mints. I think you will be able to put a nice BU set together of all 4 types from both mints if you're patient. It could easily be 18 months from now just to get all 8.

The bronze cents from San Fran will be another story. The premiums on those could get crazy later this year and none will go into circulation.

Found a cashier in Lowe's ( southern California) with 40 2009D in her drawer she sold me. I begged her to check in the cash room, but she said she couldn't.

I seriously doubt they'll make a billion type 1 P cents. The demand is only from collectors, banks do not need them. This is where we stand so far:

Quote:
It appears more 2009 pennies were minted during the month of February raising the total for the Philadelphia mint to 194.4 million and the Denver Mint to 342.4 million.

I really think that will be it. They need to get busy producing the type 2 coins as their release is coming up soon. As it stands, this is the lowest mintage since the 1955-S (44,610,000). The bad thing, these will probably be the most hoarded MS coins in history. If you're counting on finding them in circulation...GOOD LUCK.

I only need two "P" coins of each type. One for me and one to trade for "D's" with matchbox!

If worse comes to worse, I guess I'll have to open up the old wallet and buy them. But that's what I am trying to avoid.

I am in different banks about every day of the week. If I find them I would be willing to trade.

What I'm hoping for is 2 of each 2009 Lincoln Cent; 2 P and 2 D. If and when the elusive 2009 Denver Lincoln cents arrive here I'll get as many rolls as I can for traders. I'll break open a roll and send off a coin or two to whomever needs just one or two. If I can get other full rolls I'll trade them to whomever needs those.

There's a collector-friendly bank in town that I stop at often and ask about the 2009 Lincoln cents. I want to get them over the counter for 50¢ a roll, not pay a premium for BU's.

There are none in my area still. Also, I got an email from the mint, the rolls I ordered and backordered.
