Hi,
I want to first say thanks for everyone who took the time to increase my knowledge. I have another inquiry. Could this could this 1996 D Lincoln Penny be a possible Lamentation error? I included tge back side of the coin as well. Thanks,

Heather Marie

*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark to Title. It's very important to have in the title. ***

No, a lamination only occurs on copper coins 1982 and earlier.

@hea, it is a little off subject, but I wanted to recommend to you that you flatten the staples on your 2x2s. This can prevent inadvertent damage where the staples rub against an adjacent coin in your collection.

Looks like a plating issue.

yes, I have noted here that a lot of these copper clad zinc coins are having an issue with the plating, either the process is not right or the plating is too thin and wears down quickly showing the internal cladding. Notice how the silvery appearance only shows up on the highest points on these cent coins.

That year the design was higher. In the manipulation and circulation that specific part of the coins has the more fronting, so the plating will go away.

Who suggest you it is lamination?

to the forum!

Very cool looking toning and as already stated, plating issues, not a lam. Here are a couple of links to study.
