Ping, date on your coin would be considered as "near". I see no obvious doubling on the date. The doubling on UNUM is Strike Doubling and not considered on the VAM number. Check the reverse wreath and back of arrow feathers for doubling.

MorgansGmime.Thank you for the reply.Sorry I forgot to mention the dents on the denticles under the 8 looks like VAM 19? and what about the lines inside the bow?

Ping, two strikes against the Vam19. Here is a picture showing the arced lines between the denticles under the eight.

1896-VAM#?
Don't see these in your pictures. Also the date position on Vam19 starts at the normal 2 1/2 denticles from the neck point, while the date on your coin starts at slightly less than two denticles. The polishing lines in the ribbon bow are very common, sometimes used as a die marker, but not used to determine a VAM number unless they cover an exaggerated area.
