Suggest giving the coin a long soak in 100% acetone. If that's glue or other crud, the acetone will reduce or eliminate it. Acetone is safe to use on copper coins. Not an error, the coin didn't leave the striking chamber in that condition.

Make sure to only use 100% pure acetone and not standard nail polish remover or you will damage the coin.
