gimmesometruth09, can you provide pics of the edge at a couple of places? I suspect that this was once an Encased Coin that was liberated from its holder.

Yes, show the edge, then we might be able to determine how it was done.
It couldn't happen during the striking of the coin so it must have happened after.

Clearly a coin that has been deliberately altered.

Is there any location on the edge where the 'reeds' are not the exact same thickness or distance from each other? Like an overlap?
I see how the 'reeds' also are on top of the reverse rim - that can't happen, not on any coin.
These reeds were mechanically added outside of the mint.

Can you post up a series of images of the edge of ALL sides? (360 degrees)

Also are you able to measure the diameter of the coin? or at least compare it to a normal cent for size and thickness.

Very Interesting. Hope we get some more replies to this one. Just a guess on my part...is this a foreign planchet error?

IMO, this is a post Mint 'shed job', but in this case, is worth retaining in a collection as a curio.
I note that the edge has been turned up slightly on both sides, due the compressive effect of the reeding process.

It would be useful to know what the exact (reduced) diameter happens to be. Also would be useful to compare rim thickness with a standard coin. Pics suggest that rim is, if fact, thicker.

I agree they were added outside the mint. They seem to be weakest at about K7-8 (7:00-8:00) looking at the reverse image. A pic of this area of the edge might be helpful.

And the diameter as others have said.
(Weight couldn't hurt either.)

An interesting coin none the less.

What it is the Diameter and the weight?, then I come back because in 1936, 1937 and 1938 Phil didn't do any foreign coins reed in cooper at the cent diameter. I look from 18.5 mm to 20.5 mm.
