under the old way before pixlr or whatever we have to use now I could take shots on an android rivaling anyone - your pics are about the best we can do now with the lemon system...anyways nevermind all that. From what I can see it may be an AU-55 don't see any wear on it its got that beautiful blue battleship grey natural tone, a stunning Barber dime. That one deserves a slab nice coin.

I could see it getting an AU-55 or 58 designation. I'll go with 55.

This is exciting! I have another one, but no mint mark and has a mark on the cheek, but better on the reverse.

I really appreciate your responses. I can definitely see the differences in detail (former crime gun analyst) but am a bit overwhelmed with all of the individual niches for each coin, mint mark, year, error, cleaned, variety, etc.

I'm going to keep sorting and post as I find ones that are interesting—

typical for anyone getting started in this hobby and even after years of collecting and grading. you are not alone. staying plugged in here will help you quite a bit. look at other coins posted and the comments/assessments which will add to your knowledge base. I dont think anyone ever gets to a point where they know all the coin series and their nuances in grading them

I'm also at AU55. nice coin. I think with a little better eye appeal (blotchy surfaces) and luster the coin could have made a 58 grade. also note the weakly struck area from K7-K9 on the reverse. K represents the hands on the clock. strike also plays a role in the grade
