Hi! I am here to learn. New to collecting but I have a decent collection of silver halves, quarters and dimes. Looking to get into gold and I've been looking at guides, YouTube and, now, I'll be looking at the resources here!

I do have a question about gold coins. I've noticed that there are some sellers who ask a little more for older versions of the Buffalo gold coin. I understand they will mark up 100 year old gold coins but is there any reason to mark up coins that are relatively new, like 2017, for example?

You're doing things right- research before you buy! Some prices are based on intrinsic value and others are set by demand. If lots of people are assembling a set of coins the price will be higher. That is why silver eagles bring more money than generic silver rounds. This could be the case for the modern buffalo gold.

As was mentioned, be a bit wary of YouTube videos as there is a tremendous amount of misinformation out there.
