Seems to be zinc rot, but the picture is really too poor.

I can't get a real good enlarged picture. I'm gonna have to have it looked at. Just off enough to have it checked out.

When you say "have it looked at," I hope you don't mean grading. Bad photos aside, I can say with 99.999% confidence that this is just zinc rot, and 100% confidence that it is not a variety that any grading service will attribute.

No. I wasn't gonna do all that by any stretch. Just wanted to see it enlarged more than I'm able to do here at home. I appreciate your determination of it.

But note, the affected area is not raised like a mintmark would be. If it just some plated over, flatten field areas you are looking at. If this were the case, there would be a million of these as it would happen on each strike with that die. But if there is only one, then it is a coin event and not a die event. Note a RPM on this coin.
