Oh, I forgot to add that I have a couple more like this one. I won't post them until I find out about this one. Maybe the same answer for all.

Well the good news is that it is worth a nickel! Nickels suffer from heavy die wear be cause of the composition of them. Not the other devices near the mint mark. see how the edge of the field flow into each other? That is die wear. So the same is happening on the mint mark. So it happens on coins that are struck after the dies are starting to show their age. But you always have the good news!
