Is this the first cent symbol ever on a US coin?

Not sure if this is the first! I always figured the giant C on the three-center is a cent symbol, but it doesn't have the line through it so I'm not sure.

The cent symbol makes the coin look like a token. Not a fan!

The design on the Three Cent Silver I always thought was a moon or something.

Hmm, is it also the first US coin with the denomination in Arabic numerals?

Check out the Fugio Cent. https://www.PCGS.com/coinfacts/cate...ts-1787/5954

Your photo is of a 3 cent "Trime" and certainly was not the first US coin with a symbol. Nor is the OP's .25 cent coin.

Those are Roman Numerals for III.

That has also been said of the usage of $1 on the small dollars.

Arabic? I thought they were Roman Numerals.

"US" coins have never used anything "Arabic" on any coin.
They are indeed "Roman Numerals".

Well, our current numbering system (1,2,3,4...) is called "Western Arabic Numerals" or just "Arabic Numerals".

Well then, I guess that the letters "III" are indeed not Arabic numerals.

Correct. While the 1, 5, 10, 25, and 50 examples I posted above are.

I think they're actually Indian numerals, not Arabic ones.
