I found a quarter with doubled initials. I think it is MD but just wanna make sure and see what yall think.

*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. It's very important to have in the title. ***

@koi, thx for posting this quarter. This doubling has been the subject of multiple previous threads, but I'm not sure that we have completely coalesced into a single explanation. You can use the search box functionality to find these other threads, but here is a link to one to get you started:

Some folks have called it MD (me one of them) however, this keeps showing up and the ones we have seen it the past look the almost same as this one - So there has to be a logical explanination for this. Some have said Strike Doubling - but why ONLY on the initials and nowhere else?

Would you recommend holding onto it for a while fellas? Wondering for myself should I come across one. All the ones I currently have appear uncirculated. Think I got them right out of the roll from a store.

I don't think it's been settled yet. I'm keeping mine, just cost .25. Oh wait, I found mine in mint bags so mine cost me .45.
