Two questions - not sure where to ask about how (or where) to repair this coin but that is part one.
Second part is what grade would you give (not counting the problem).
Thanks in advance!

Nice meaty VF-EF. That little piece soldered on is a shame. You could probably just hold it with a cloth(to prevent cutting yourself) and snap it off yourself..then a very careful file to remove the excess protruding metal..being careful not to hit the coin itself. Other than that I'd leave it, get er good enough to be presentable. Pretty coin

VF20, scratchy
You can remove the loop but you will never obviate the damage done.

You'll never be able to fully remove the solder and the notch beneath. It looks VF-20ish, but it was worn on a neck so the wear of the coin is much more on the eyelet area of the coin.

I wonder if the solder used to attach the ring has a lower melting point than the 92.5/7.5 Ag/Cu of the coin.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Thanks for all the great replies. I know the coin is forever damaged but I feel compelled to find a way to restore it as much as possible I got it for close to melt so I will spend some money to repair it if I can find the right person. Honda Boguss made a good point, if the solder melt is lower than silver melt there is a chance to make improvements without more damage.
I will check with some local folks for a jewelry maker who appreciates coins.
All comments appreciated!

I know its damage but I find it sort of telling and charming that there was a time when everyday things in common usage were considered beautiful enough to be made into jewelry. Made out of precious metals and designed to ennoble the subject depicted, the person using the coin and the country in which it was all taking place.
