I have the reprint of the 1947 edition, and a 1966.
I find them to be very useful tools to compare the value of coins 'then and now', and I adjust the old prices for inflation when comparing.

Carl: Hang in there, I am sure that a discounted copy will be available soon, the new one comes out next month.
Malissa: The 1947's have been found at garage sales, and one lucky searcher found a bunch of the early ones (frm the 1st on) at a book sale in NYC. If I remember correctly he got them for about a $1 each!
Stranger things have happened, also at library sales, etc.

Few years ago at a flea market a seller was selling the ones from the 20 to 40th editions for $1 each. He had piles of them and all new.

Carl: That was a very good deal, especially if they were all new. I hope that you filled in your set!

Would have been but I had all of those already. Naturally later I said to myself why didn't I buy them all anyway.

Carl: LOL, that is how I wound up with a couple of hundred extra copies!
That, and buying boxes of them, just to get the one or two that I needed!

I think they are going to also have a ringed version with the rings on the inside. I received a notice from Whitman about all the different varieties to be released.

Carl: Yes, they started the 'enclosed ring' binding with the 2008 edition.
Very nice and a nice way to use the book, but keep it in good condition.
Also, last year they came out with a ring version, that opens, just like the old three ring binders that we used to have in school. [or kind of like a cook book.]
This year's additions are the large print edition.
Did you get your 2009 yet?
