Hi All - About 9-10 hours ago The Royal Mint released for sale the Coronation coins for Charles III. I am in the US and found that when I log in I can look but locked out from ordering. If I don't log in I can get to checkout, but then have to log in, and the basket gets deleted. Tried two different browsers, same result. Has anybody in the US been able to order? Very frustrating watching things sell out and being on the side lines. Thanks!

Same here. The coin I want says it is available on the site, so I click on it and BOOM - not available, but on the same page it still says 'available'. What the heck!!?! I also tried calling th Royal Mint phone number but apparently I don't know the nuances of calling over seas to the UK. +44(0) 1443 235 908 - So I sent an email but it may be too late to get it when they (IF) they reply. Is the Mint there saying that the product is not available in U.S. Currency? I thought we were allies across the pond and all.. , but the site also quotes th e price in U.S. dollars too (using the current exchange rate.)

Not sure why there's an issue buying from overseas, but nothing would surprise me with The Royal Mint at the moment. I've been very, very disappointed with them over the memorial sovereign proof I bought. Three times I sent the coin back as it was marked, and in the end I cancelled the order and asked for a refund. Up to fifteen days they said...took nearly a month. Anyhoo, emails were ignored and only when I got shirty on the phone did anything happen, so I wouldn't pin any hopes on a swift reply. May be best to buy on the secondary market than take a chance with the RM

I tried ordering on my iphone and had problems getting through, but then I went on my laptop and successfully ordered the coin pictured above. It must help that I'm kind of an insomniac so I completed the order in the wee hours.

I just ordered the 1 oz, 50p and 5 pound coins. That's pretty much all that was available. Everything else sold out.

My first thought is that they sold out quickly...possibly to huge dealers. The set looks very nice!

I was up at 0100 local time at the moment the RM opened its site to purchase any coins. (I ended up in a queue at number 28,252 or so) waited 20 minutes got in and had immediate issues then as well when I got home from work later..

I was up, too, when initially announced and had exact problems as Dearborn. Got the same note on currency, but only when I would log in to check out it would change at that time.
And BTW, it only happened with the Coronation coins. They were all too happy to let me buy any Harry Potter coin....
Congrats to those that successfully ordered! Right now looks like little is left and I'll have to see what the secondary market settle, too.

I'm too going to HAVE to see what the secondary market has to offer at rip off prices, all because the RM is (well I don't want to start an international incident here)

I am going to keep my eye on Royal Mail to see if they suddenly pop up an FDC cover with a coin for the coronation. I kind of doubt it, but if it were to happen, I have always had good service with them.

They love creating this sense of frustration and need to get it or it'll have sold out.
It's their "sales technique", they'd probably make more money if they just sold as many as they could, for now, but later on people wouldn't bother because they'd know there wouldn't be a chance it'll become R@R£.....

I was hoping for a coronation medal release. I don't think that's happening though. The Royal Mint had a history spanning back centuries of doing this, but stopped for QEII. Although they did issue silver and golden jubilee medals.

Yesterday, Royal Mail announced their coronation stamp issues for pre-order and it included a FDC stamp cover including the brilliant uncirculated £5 coin. The coin cover available after May 15th.
i ordered, with no problem, as better than nothing, and the price of the FDC with coin is essentially the same as the coin alone. In a blog I follow for RM stamps, they mention coin covers starting at £19.99. Which implies more to come. The blog has always been accurate in their information, so I suspect silver and gold coin covers may show up without announcement.

Well, slap my bottom and call me Spanky! I was able to order the coronation silver proof 50p and £5 coins from The Royal Mint this morning. Yes, it still had the problem as seen by myself and Dearborn, but what I did now was just create a brand new account from scratch using a second email address I have and then was able to enter the order with no problem. Why this worked. You've got me....
