Is-This-A-1987-D-Quarter-Error?

Hello CC people! I am a new member to the site.
I found this quarter and it appears to have more metal material behind the neck and in front of the face.
I do not have experience recognizing an error, so what do people think about this? Thank you.

cybercacti, it's hard to make a determination on your coin based on the images posted. Exposure to extreme heat can cause bubbles or blisters between the cladding layers, and that appears to be the case here.

cybercacti,

I agree it has heat damage after it left the mint so it is considered PMD.

Most of it is just simple circulation wear - hits and dings too. But the bubbles on the obverse is caused by a very hot directed flame

Agree--post-strike damage, with a dose of high heat.
