Question? Why that fantastic grained wook in the back where no one can see it?
Could you make something like that to hold a coin Album, suspended so it could open?
Or possibly numerous pages of an Album that would be displayed similar to that. Maybe a few of those opening panels with different pages of an Album on each.
Rest in Peace

Bryan1315, yeah, those 3 Barbers, the V nickel and the 2 Standing Liberties bug the cr** out of me, but I just can't afford BU or AU ones right now. Though a nagging little voice inside keeps saying "you can let the electric bill slide for a month and get three BU/AU Barbers". Stupid voice. I'm trying not to listen to it.

are you planning on upgrading those barber and standing liberty coins? The only reason I ask is those are the only ones that look circulated in the whole set and would bother the heck out of me and just wondered if it bothered you as well. I guess I want all my coins to all look close to the same condition and wonder if anyone else feels this way or am I just to anal

That is an interesting question. I was to busy looking at the presentation to notice the coins. As already noted so are most of the people that answered I think.
Rest in Peace

Just carl - the wood in the back was some left over veneer of the same kind as the inner swinging frame, and I had to ask myself am I showing off coins or wood? Both actually, but I liked the way the inside surprises you when you open the front.

I was going to build some kind of cabinet next with drawers to hold individual coins in airtites, but haven't decided which coins. Maybe commemorative halves and dollars? But now you have me thinking of doing it as a wall mount instead. Mmmmmm.

I agree the woodwork is magnificent and that would make me think since he is such a perfectionist (like I am) he would have the same type of anal qualities and it bother him , I really just wanted to know if I was the only one who thinks like I do where they want everything to look like it was made there instead of having super high quality all over except a few places where you have worn down stuff (not only coins but anything can be done this way). I would rather settle for a lower grade on the high grade coins and then have them all look the same than have a few of them look like they don't belong. As I stated I was just wondering if I am alone in my thinking or if anyone else felt the way I do about this. Its like building a new section onto your house and putting old windows with holes and cracks in it, just looks out of place

Nice work! I enjoy woodworking, too, but hard to find the time.

Cabinets with drawers for coins is sort of overdone. I've seen those on web sites many times. The way I see it is you have to open each drawer and even then, you only see one side of the coins. And also, if the drawer doesn't open all the way, you many not see all the coins. Also, when standing over such a cabinet the lighting is important or again you miss some of the coins. And such cabinets are not always welcome in some rooms.
The wall mount thing you came up with is unique, easily seen, both sides available, placeble anywhere, great item for any room. Although the coins are supposed to be the subject, such a decorative item would be appreciated by individuals of any type.
And yes Bryan1315, you are being to picky about the grades of the coins. Did you notice most replys were of the woodwork.
