I bought a strap of twos from the bank not too long ago. They were series 2017A and still had the B.E.P. strap. They were all in sequence except for two in the middle which were from a different Federal Reserve bank. Do you think someone at the bank pulled a couple of star notes out and replaced them? Or maybe a customer did that and redeposited the strap?

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

In a way I felt somehow cheated but the reality is that I was not. The bank sold me exactly what I asked for - a strap of twos.

I doubt anyone at the bank exchanged the notes. Most tellers I speak to aren't even aware of replacement (star) notes.
