Part 2 of 4 coins to test your skills grading modern Lincoln Cents.

This one was the most challenging to photograph, while trying to maintain accuracy, since the obverse is so reflective. In person it is a very nice light red to medium yellow toned coin.

These are getting graded by PCGS - will post actual grades when I receive them.

Pics too dark to see all surface details clearly.

looks like a scratch running from the forehead down the side of the face. spotting on both sides. a few small ticks in the obv right field. I dont know what caused all the striations across the surfaces. typically die polishing does not cross devices. some kind of metal disturbance under the steps. I'm thinking all of this was on the planchet prior to strike.

keep in mind above 66 and every little mark detracts from grade.
maybe 66RD

i hope the comments your are getting help increase your knowledge base on what it takes to find a coin that would grade 67 or higher. this one is better than the 85(P) however again the coin would need to pull a 68 to be worth slabbing. .only 47 coins out of 5BB have graded 68. one at 68 and one at 69. the chances of finding any in what I would call in circulation is pretty slim. keep looking

if you already submitted these coins then repost when you get them back. we would be interested in what PCGS has to say and whether we are on or off on them

Yikes! Submitting modern LMC's isn't for the faint of heart...I just don't have the nerve to submit them...I have a bunce in flips that I go back and look at and try and convince myself...but I just can't do it.
grospoisson (gp) is a member here that is the guy I would like you to hear from...along with BadThad. These members have an exceptional eye towards these moderns.
This 91 is far better than the 85...I just don't think he'll make 68?
Please keep us posted!

65/66 at best. I would NOT submit this coin, waste of money IMO. It'll be worth less than $10 in a PCGS slab.
