As I'm going through my mom's collection I found some sort of coin set and the half dollar coin looks like it has some kind of off coloring I would say. In the reflective light you dont see it but silver but in different light there is a hazey whiteish yellow. The back don't show it just the front of the coin. I also incuded the set I found the coin in. It's still in plastic and I tried to get the best photos and different angles to show.

And what is the question?

That 'set' is an after market compilation by some company looking to profit from the sale of common coins - it is not a US Mint issued product.

Since the thread was posted in the grading subforum, I'm thinking they want an estimate of the grade.

The question was. What is the yellowish coloring and does it take away from the value?

Storing was in a locked box under a bed for about a decade. My mom loved to order coins from American mint and a few other coin companies and swore they are worth money. I got a locked box with a bunch coins from the early 1900 to 70s and golden $ coins from 20l0 to now. I selling off these coins due to I don't want them and so far all the coins she has from 60s and back to 1900 only values at $200 as of what redbook2024 tells me. And I doubt the golden $ coins are worth much. Back with I have American meet layered coins that to most is junk and I have another locked box of those coins. So I'm trying to figure out what she has and what I can sell and figure out if it's something to sell as a whole or piece them out to sell. She has Franklin and Susan b. Anthony coins that don't have this weird tone or surface so I just wanted to know if it's bad to have one it and does it affect the coin.

Perhaps you have environmental damage from being stored in a PVC wrapper. It certainly doesn't do anything nice or valuable to your coin(s). The reverse of the coin doesn't appear to have the damage because it was covered by the cardboard type of holder. Someone out there may collect that set because of it's packaging but, I doubt if it will have much value. You could try a local coin dealer to see if they will purchase your coins. There's a market for Benjamin half dollars but, very little for the Susan B's, unless they are MINT errors and still not much.

Good luck on your sales.
