Looking at this 1860, but I don't care for whatever the green film is on it - partially clumsily removed on the obverse. Two questions, what are your thoughts on the coin itself, and what would be the best way to get rid of the green, if at all? Is this something that Verdi-Care would work on?

Thanks

I'll say AU-50+ sharpness. Unnatural coloring.

...and the coin shows Longacre doubling on the obverse. As I've recently learned, common, but interesting just the same.

Could it be pvc residue? Was this coin improperly stored at some point? I might try soaking in pure acetone first (no rubbing though).

Spence beat me to it. Soak in acetone and pat dry with a clean cloth. Good place to start and remove any lose debris on the coin.

Haven't bought it yet. On the fence. Thanks for the suggestions, though. Didn't know if this might be a candidate for Verdi-Care, although I guess that's more for copper, not copper-nickel, coins. I don't have any, but trying to determine if I should have some in my kit.

Agree, if you don't own it, don't buy it.

Yeah, looks like about $125 for the coin.

Nice AU. Maybe some residue though.
