I can almost make out a date - 1763/5 or 1783/5?

Can anyone help with identifying the country and denomination?

It looks somewhat like this Brabant 1/2 patagon, but the heavy corrosion on the cross side isn't helping the ID, and there's no eagle. How much does it weigh?

This looks like your coin. Austrian Netherlands.

To me it looks more like a gilt Austrian Netherlands Kronenthaler, such as is linked below:

@khun, please always include diameter and weight measurements on coins that you need help identified (including this one). Thx.

@Spence- thank you! That's absolutely it. Apologies for the lack of info ... it's 39mm dia., I will weigh it later when I have my scale out. Will remember to do that next time beforehand. Thanks again!

No problem, although the coin I posted is about 29 mm in diameter. Are you sure yours is 39 mm? If so, then it may be a made for tourism replica or something similar. Also that Kronenthaler has edge lettering. What is on the edge of this piece?

I checked again - definitely 39mm in diameter, and 29g weight. There appears to have been edge lettering, but it's much too worn or corroded to make out.

@Spence: the Numista page says 41mm dia., 29.44g weight. So I think it *is* the right coin.

Yes, it's a kronenthaler, Brussels mint. (I've posted my 1765 recently over here: http://goccf.com/t/428286&whichpage=274 )

Very strange damage pattern.
