Last one for today. Had this one for a while. I took at along to a big show a while back and had probably 20 dealers look at it and an ANACS grader who was there. Difference of opinion, as usual. Almost everyone said it was an MS coin. General consensus was that it had been dipped, but not cleaned. The coin cartwheels beautifully. I apologize in advance for the golden color - guess that's from the light of my desk lamp. I can try again with a different light source if this is too distracting - nobody I showed the coin to had any problems with it being the wrong color. Curious as to your comments.

MS62, maybe even MS63. Nice rim Cuds and 2 big reverse die cracks. I'm not sure on the cleaning or color, or if it's natural or looks wrong, so I can't really help with that -- I only have two Uncirculated copper-nickel IHC to compare with, both 1863s, 1 is PCGS 64, the other is raw 63. I still like the look of the coin no matter what, especially with the die defects.

Hope you gents are right - I got in at below AU58 money because I liked the look of the coin so much. So many seem to have really weak strikes, but this one looked pretty solid in that respect. Seeing what appeared to be mint luster in the low points on the coin made me doubt cleaning, but, as I've proved here, I'm far from expert. Blind squirrel logic, probably... ;>)

I can't really see any obvious wear, so it should? be at least MS-60.
However, with the very numerous tiny nicks and dings, a grade of
AU-58 would be consistent for this coin.

Cartwheel luster would help with the value, but that is subjective for a buyer.

Based on the new pics, I'm thinking good shot at MS-63.

I'll probably send this one off sooner or later. I'm thinking PCGS is the way to go, although I have NGC graded coins. Seems like PCGS has a slightly better market acceptance. I have to think that, at some point, my daughter will be getting this collection and I want her to have the better coins TPG so if (when) she decides to sell that task will be a little easier.
