I thought I would post some coins that I bid on but did not win.
Bid $616, sold for $626. Thoughts? Thanks!

I probably should have bid higher for this one. I liked it but it was a late snipe fest for this one.

XF details, cleaned, rim damage, scratches

I believe the left and right obverse fields and the reverse field above the right wing gap may have been polished or tooled to try to clean up the surfaces.
That entire area in the left obverse field (left of Liberty's right arm) is highly suspect.

I have been looking for a Double Dime 20 Cents VF or better for some years; apparently they are very scarce no matter which country you happen to live in. Lots of collectors are on the lookout for an example, and there are not enough for them all.
That would explain the high price.

Nevertheless, IMO, with regard to above grading opinions, you are lucky enough in this case to be an unsuccessful bidder.

After viewing some of your other coins here in the CCF, I think you would be more satisfied with a higher graded example

Just my 2 cents worth, the coin is a problem coin there are enough graded examples available through the more reputable online auction houses that pop up more frequently than expected. Have owned the 1875 P 75 CC 75 S and 76 both in details and original condition. In my experience selling details graded doubledimes bring about 55% value of a non details example they were coins I shouldn't have bought and regretted it the original examples brought a nice premium. For a good looking XF - AU example expect to pay a premium over price guidelines there's enough of them out there where every 3-4 months they come up. Rare scarce etc. but enough survive to meet demand I was buying these at 4-5 hundred bucks back in 2018 they have appre iated nicely. Check out the populations report on the sleeper 1876 business strike, better coin i.m.o. than the 75 CC just not as hyped.

some good comments here. the only thing i'll add is that the coin looks like it was improperly stored. old cleaning. lots of field issues. these are not easy to find nice examples in the higher grades but this is one you should not kick yourself in the butt for not getting.
