DBM Pillar of the Community Canada 9862 Posts	Posted 05/30/2023 11:00 am Not an error. Your coin suffers from two problems. It was struck from a very worn obverse die, and it's been exposed to some type of nasty environment causing it to corrode from the inside out. Very common for early plated steel dimes. kbbpll Pillar of the Community United States 4233 Posts	Posted 05/30/2023 1:35 pm I think what you see on the letters is ejection doubling, a form of Machine Doubling. Here's one thread about it http://goccf.com/t/253031 Other sources describe it as a lip of metal pulled up on the edges of devices as the coin exits the die. Report this Post to the Staff
