I have 2 coins that I want to get graded. 1) 1873-CC Trade dollar. 2) 1900-O Morgan dollar. Each has some damage. What are your opinions as to if PCGS will slab/reject/"genuine only" these? 1873-CC has damages to reverse... 1900-O has damage to the date..... Thank you!!!!

The 1900 O is not worth grading..The other one we will need to wait for a member in the know to comment on. John1

to the CCF The Trade dollar appears genuine and in VF/XF range. I strongly suspect that PCGS (or any other top-tier TPG) will judge it to be Genuine Details - Damaged. The Morgan is is nice MS coin with damage - in MS63 its an $80 coin so IMO not worthy of submitting.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art

Agree, both would likely get a details grade from the damage. But it may be worth grading the Trade dollar anyway because a VF details grade would remove the question of authenticity to a potential buyer.

The Trade dollar has significant damage and will not grade. The Morgan might grade but it's not worth submitting.

Submit the Trade dollar either way. Better to have it in an XF details slab

but I think the Trade dollar could come in at XF details (damaged) if the coin went to PCGS it probably would come back in a Genuine damaged slab and may not be assigned a grade

Maybe submit the Trade $ to ANACS and save some money.

The face of the eagle on the Trade dollar appears to be shocked by the damage, and probably thinking, "Whew! That was a close one!"

Quote: Maybe submit the Trade $ to ANACS and save some money. and i'll add to that, that ANACS may net grade the coin and details it (i think they still do this) whereas PCGS or NGC would probably not assign a grade.
