Hi all...first post here and pretty new to the world of Morgan collecting so apologies if this has been covered previously. I recently acquired an 1899 O (I believe this is a "closed 9" variety) with a line running along most of the lettering on the reverse of the coin. The image uploaded here isn't my coin but the line is exactly the same as mine. The coin tests fine for weight and "pings" properly so I don't think it's a fake, but I could not find this specific VAM at vamworld.com. Is this a common/normal defect?
Those lines on the reverse are die cracks - very common on Morgans. If you will show the obverse also, the fine folks on here may be able to help narrow down the VAM number. Most Morgans don't have the specific characteristics to warrant a VAM designation.

Thank you so much! Yes indeed, the lines appear to be exactly like VAM-25B. Now if I can ask a dumb question, the photos in the vamworld link to 25B show VAM-37A photos. Why is that? The die break lines look the same. I'm not sure what the double ear is all about, I don't see anything unusual.
Sometimes two or even more vams are found at a later date to be the same VAM they change-merge the vams together. On the bottom of the VAM page you will see dubious listings and "List of Past VAM Assignments" which still have the original listings before they were merged or "killed". As to the ear it looks looks like slight doubling on the ear so may have to adjust angle of light or coin to see it if you can. Hope this helps!
