I found a very nice 1955 s mintmark Lincoln Cent while coin roll hunting, and I was wondering if its worth getting graded ?

to the Forum, Simonsaid! While that 55S LWC is in fantastic condition, the cost of certification would exceed its value.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Very nice example, but not quite enough to exceed MS66. Great album hole filler until better comes along. Decent photos.

Wow! I'd be doing back flips if I found that inside a roll. Very pretty!

That coin is in exceptional condition, but not high enough grade to warrant a slabbing for it, unless you just want it in a slab for some reason, however don't expect it to raise the value to cover the cost of grading..

No chance at MS67 which is what you would need to get to justify slabbing this from a commercial value. There is a pretty prominent nick on the forehead, a weird discoloration and maybe slight scratch on the right field on the obverse, and then the reverse is fairly scratched and nicked as well. So even if you get like MS65 you are looking at $10-$15 which is going to be a net loss even at ANACS. MS66 $20-30 on ebay but after grading fees, shipping, and ebay fees, an MS66 doesn't really make money either. You would need an MS67 and I don't see that coin getting there personally.

Sadly, you can see some evidence of wear. The cheek and jaw are flattened. Still an EXCELLENT find! AU-53

with badthad I think the coin shows signs of circulation. low to mid AU. two reasons to grade a coin 1. you have a rare coin and need it authenticated and preserved 2. the coins value is at least $150 and you are planning on selling it neither of which you have here
