Dont know if anyone can help me please.
I recently bought this 1854 Penny that has been struck twice and have been trying to find out what the other coin may be.
However the other coin I am struggling to find what it may be ,it does have Co a couple of times ,so possibly an advertising token.
I dont even know if it was struck by The Royal Mint or Heaton mint as the Heaton mint also struck copper pennies for 1853,54 and 56.
The coin is slighly thinner and cant be sure if its been struck out of collar or flattened slightly.

That's an odd one. It seems to me that the 1854 penny design was struck first, then something else squashed down the coin's rim, creating the rim letters. My best guess is that it was an insert into some kind of early Encased Coin or jewellery piece, and later removed.

Interesting. On the reverse I am seeing what looks like the abbreviation for Company Co with a raised o - something like on this token - I am not saying your coin it from this token - just that the Co is used on tokens.

I would imagine there was another contract being produced and a blank was stuck and this is struck outside of the collar. I am not sure what the correct term for it is something like a mated pair effect 2 different strikes on the same coin but from different dies if that makes any sense ?
