This coin features what looks like a speared bison - the result of a die gouge caused by damage to the die during production. Millions of 2005 nickels were made at the Philadelphia and Denver mints, with the Denver "D" minting 487,680,000 circulation coins. However, a very small, unknown number of these regular production coins had a die error resulting in the "speared bison" anomaly. Report this Post to the Staff

Given the skew towards Philly nickels here, I doubt I will ever cross paths with a speared bison in the wild. But there is always hope. =) Report this Post to the Staff
