Is that linear feature sunken (incuse), or raised?

It appears raised to me. It is casting a shadow in the same direction as the ear which is raised.

The first two photos are clear and it looks raised. The focus on the other two is enough to obscure actual light direction.

- not seeing a definitive answer to whether it is raised or incuse.

I for one say it is incuse by looking at the 3rd image. The first 2 have the light directly overhead and is creating shadows on both sides of the Lincoln device.

I agree - sure looks like the marks are incuse in a "V" shape into the high points of Lincoln's bust face.

Spender or keeper--it's entirely a personal decision.

The OP still hasn't answered if it's raised or incused.
