Hello Everyone. This morning I decided to bag up some loose change I had been gathering over the past few months. As I was bagging them up to bring to the bank I noticed (for the 1st time) the many different variations on the back of the €2 coins. This peaked my interest, and curiosity had me goggling €2 coins, when I eventually came across sites/posts on rare coins etc. So now I should be at the bank depositing these coins into my account, instead I am now here on this forum, wondering how I go about finding out if any of these coins are rare or worth more than €2? I am complete newbie to all this, but it seems quite interesting to me. Edited by IT2023 06/12/2023 08:43 am

I agree that the €2 coins are very interesting. Euro-zone countries typically use them for commemorative issues, of which there has been quite a variety. Very few of them, however, are going to be "worth" anything more than €2 when taken from circulation : you will have a very hard time selling them for that, even if you hang onto them for many years until they have totally disappeared from circulation, because other people will have already saved coins in perfect condition, fresh from the mint.
As with all numismatic items, my advice is this. Hang onto a coin, by all means, if you like it and want to keep it because it appeals to you. Getting rich is a fool's hope. Even making a little extra income on the side is difficult.

The only coin I see keeping is the 2 euro with a stickman holding an euro. It's an interesting commemorative.

Hello and As with all coins, there are a few very scarce commemorative 2-euro coins that are worth keeping - the obvious ones being those from the Vatican City, Monaco, Andorra and San Marino. The real 'star' is the 2007 Monaco 2-euros with the portrait of Princess Grace. You're unlikely to find one in circulation, but stranger things do happen... https://www.hellomonaco.com/sightse...-valuable-2/I love collecting euro coins and try to get as many different ones in change as I can. Personally I'd put aside any commemorative 2-euro coins in decent condition.
