@worm, first welcome to CCF. Second, that doesn't look like a pair of roughly parallel die cracks to me. It might be an area where the copper plating has peeled away, slough I'm not seeing the zinc core. Maybe it was overplated and that is peeling?

While working on new pics, consider giving the coin a long soak in 100% acetone. If those linear features are 'organic' in nature, the acetone may remove or reduce them. Note: I use the term organic loosely.
