GOOD MORNING #127774;

I will start by saying I am new to collecting paper money. I have been drawn to it recently by finding a few really cool bills in circulation. I always check my coins but didn't think twice about checking my bills until about a month ago.

I recently came across a $20 with a partial stamp on the front right near Jackson's picture. I have diligently searched the internet (Google and ebay ) to find something similar so that I could educate myself. unfortunately, my research efforts have not produced any solid or consistent information.

I have found numerous examples of stamps that were obviously post Bureau, but in the example on the bill I found, under magnification, it definitely looks as though this partial stamp was there prior to the printing ink being applied.

Having said all of that, I guess the main questions I have are: #1) Does this happen, meaning is there a point in the process where a stamp could have came in contact with the blank sheet of currency paper, if so, is it something that frequently occurs? and #2) If this was a stamp done prior to printing, would it be significant enough to be considered an error, if so, would it be of any value to anyone? #10067; #10067;

Basically,should I keep it, sell it or spend it?

Thank you in advance for your time and any responses. I welcome all opinions, feedback or information. I absolutely respect the opinions and knowledge of the members of this forum community. I have learned more from the people here than anywhere else when it comes to coins so I have no doubt it will be the same with paper money. #9829;#65039; JENNH

@Keith.
Thank you for confirming that. A tellers stamp is the only stamp I could find. I was just confused because when looking at it very closely it appears the stamp is under the ink of the bill. I appreciate your help!
Thank You,

This "illusion" is caused by the teller stamp ink adhering to the blank portion of the note and not to any of the printed surfaces like letters, numbers or engravings. We tend to see this often here.
