1984 Cent Bow Tie Dot And DDD Date?

ttkoo Pillar of the Community Australia 2509 Posts	Posted 06/25/2023 10:33 pm Hi all, On this 1984 cent I see a ripple east of the 9 in the date and some affecting the 8 and 4 to a lesser extent, which I think from researching this forum is from DDD - looking for clarification. Errers and Varietys Bedrock of the Community United States 73898 Posts	Posted 06/25/2023 10:37 pm Your coin is showing " Ridge Ring", which is from Die Deterioration. It also shows Die Deterioration Doubling on the date too. That dot you see near the tie might be from a plating issue. Might be a zinc bubble. Errers and Varietys. Report this Post to the Staff

I wasn't sure about the bow tie dot, we don't have clad coins in Australia, so any dot like that down-under is normally from a flaw in the die. The Plated Lincoln cents account for 90% of the misidentified conditions on any coin to date, and fill Coin forums like this one and others.
