Hi All!

I found a 2017A $1 dollar bill that has one black serial and one green serial. After staring at it for as long as I have, I almost think the left serial isa just very very dark green. Or perhaps my eyes are just playing tricks on me at this point? Either way though,I assume this would be considered an ink error? Is there a name for this error? What is the value if any? I have not been able to find anything similar on Google or ebay, perhaps because I am not sure what this error is called. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks so much,
JennH

I've been seeing more and more notes with inkwell contamination lately. I've seen it now mostly on $1s and $5s. It's a bit of a conundrum though. Buyer confidence in it being a legitimate error is solidified when authenticated by a TPG, but that expense eats into its typical low value. Cool find.

I've seen these dark serial number notes before, but not in a graded holder. All of them were raw notes.

Yes, There is a Ink Fountain Discoloration error on the 2017a FC, I posted another here 2017a Atlanta FC, graded so coolbreeze can see a graded one. http://goccf.com/t/438361#3772595

the new LEPE overprinting lines print all the left-hand serials from one drum, and all the right-hand serials from a second drum. So it's entirely possible for the left and right serials to be different colors since 2013 on the $1. Perhaps also depending how they refill the ink, if one side were to be refilled at a different time I also thought this could potentially cause slight coloration differences as well, such as insufficient ink on one side only for example which is also in that link. Very cool find and a keeper.
