Hi I was wondering if this 1945 D penny would be a good one to grade. I see so many that people have graded but then some say they dont because its not worth it.

*** Edited by Staff to Add Denomination to Title. It's very important to have in the title. ***

Did you read the general rule about sending in a coin? You need to start with finding out the grade of your coin,https://www.PCGS.com/photograde/
Then find out the value of your coin on ebay sold values and http://m.numismedia.com/rarecoinprices.htm and there is your answer as to sending it in or not.

The photos aren't quite sufficient to accurately assess the grade. No doubt its a nice coin--perhaps best suited as a good album hole filler until better comes along. It likely falls in the AU58-MS64 range.

photos are little too small and out of focus. the best grade you could probably see with this coin is MS63 or maybe 64. it may even be AU58 but cant really tell using the photos

its a very common coin with a mintage of 266mm. the coin would have to grade MS67 in order to make grading it worth it. slabbed MS64RD coins sell for about $10-12.

it doesn't make sense to grade a coin unless a coin is worth $150 or more. most seasoned collectors dont even slab their coins due to the cost. you could expect to spend a minimum of $18 (economy grading) plus shipping/insurance per coin each way plus a subscription to a grading service. For instance PCGS charges a minimum of $69 for a subscription other subscription levels include grading vouchers though so you could reduce these costs. As you can see it really is not worth grading any average coin.

put the coin in an album or in an airtight holder
