Hi. As I mentioned in my into post, I'm new to this. I'm retired Air Force and have a bunch of coins from Europe that I picked up 40 - 50 years ago myself. I've got them sorted by Country. What's the best tool to determine if they're worth anything? Would that still be PCGS?

If they are "pocket change", it's not likely that you have any treasures. But if they were coins that you bought, it's possible that they have increased in value over the years.

Once you have identified the coins, you can plug the names into an ebay advanced search, clicking on "sold items" to what they sell for.

This is the best indicator of current market value in the U.S. for most modern world coins.

As others have said, if you bought older coins in the places you visited, post them and we can help.

NGC maintains a "world coin database", https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/world/ with values pulled from the old Krause world coin catalogues. The values might be out of date and sometimes unreliable, but for any given country they should still give a good indication of which coins are common and which aren't.

But first, posting your coins here can and will help you to save money on grading of coins - Most will not warrant grading, but some will.
So we look forward to seeing your collection soon.

How big is your collection ? If you have enough time, then use the catalogs. Buy the electronic version of the krause catalog on ebay (it will cost you $2-5). You can also take your collection to a local antiques store, where they will tell you which coins cost a lot of $, and which ones cost 10-20 cents.
