Ok what is one US coin that you will never get raid of? And why? Is it your first, got form someone, got from a family member? Ok mine is a 1999 Silver American Eagle- The reason why is because I got it from my Dad's collection from my mother after he passed away. He is the reason I collect and the greatest man I ever have known. Also a 1999 ASE was the one of the first silver Dollar he gave me for a gift not the one I have though. So that coin has a lot of meaning behind it for me. I know not a really valuable one but has alot of value to me. If you have picture it would be great

There are several. My 1900 P $5 gold piece -- because it's my first gold coin, and I paid less than $20 for it. My 1911 S St. Gaudins Double Eagle. Because I bought it while in the company of my youngest son, at a Colorado Springs coin shop he knew about. My 1797 English Cartwheel. Because of its neatness. My 1942 Walking Liberty half, BU. Because it is beautiful, and is my birth year. And, many more, especially those given to me by my family members.

My wooden dollar.
Nothing can beat this coin and they are very rare at the moment. I hear only 250 have been "minted"

I have two coins that I will never get rid of. First there is an English 1806 penny that my father gave me. (My avatar). Second is a 2006 Silver Eagle that I just received from a new friend in the US. Thanks Danny. Both of these coins are very special now. Steve

My main U.S. coin would be my 1988 silver eagle :) other than that it would be my bag of 1988 circulating change that I'm always adding to lol you might say I hoard my birth year lol

I'd be hard-pressed to get rid of anything in my collection, except for my junk silver box. Even then, I'd probably only part with something if it was being used for a trade. Of course, there are things that I'm more attached to than others, my first Morgan, my lone CC Morgan, the wheat cents from Granddad's hoard *cough* collection, and some gifts from Catman to name a few....

My 1841 Seated dollar--AU50 toned grey. I bought it in 1986 from the real Bowers and Merena. I could sell it right now for double but I can't. I just like it too much.

Believe it or not, I can't make up my mind which one it would be. Guess I'll just have to keep them all.

WEll, I have an unusual coin tale to tell here- True story- believe it or not. It is about a Canadia Nickel- To be sure one that I will keep- although I have sold a few- But this coin is special- It is a WW11 issue- 1943 Tombac Canadian Nickel,, (I was in that conflict as were millions of others) This coin is very special. IT WAS USED AS A PROPAGANDA COIN. The type I am speaking of was minted from 1943 and included through 1945 It was known as the Victory 5 cent piece(Canada) The Canadian Airforce- and American airforce teamed up and dropped thousands of these coins behind enemy lines- WHY? There waa a message on this coin that code men (including the Germans) could read. It was international morse. The message was-in code around the edge of the obverse and it read-- "We win when we workwillingly)This was meant to demoralize the enemy. Years ago, I wrote up this fact for CoinWorld and they printed it. I thought of this story before looking up this coin in my (most treasured) that is the TOMBAC copper issue 1st year. Now some of you may want a picture- if so, ask and thou shalt receive-in due time.Or if you have Haxgby and Willey Coins of Canada, you will find the code there. The rest of this story came from an airforce man. habiru001

As a collector, I have no coins with which I would wish to dispose. As an investor, none of my coins are immune from being sold. I have certain favorites, of course, mostly Morgans, but none have the sentimental value found within the stories above.
