Okay, I'm a newbie and I have NO IDEA what the value of the coins I have. Any thoughts, advise, price ranges would be welcome and appreciated. Thanks! Here's what I got:

I have a Buffalo nickel - indian head on the obverse - buffalo on the reverse - worn around the edges and no date or mint visible -might have worn away
1903 nickel - 13 stars on the obverse and female bust - reverse is a wreath with a V in the middle but no mint that I can find.
1907 nickel - same as the 1903
1911 nickel - same as 1903 & 1907 but more worn.

1963 dime - silver - shiny and good condition
1908 dime - worn but print is still clear - reverse has a wreath, S on the bottom
1914 dime - silver little worn but still clear print - reverse has a wreath, D on the bottom (the mint I assume)
1939 dime - silver - obverse has a female bust with wings on the side of her head? - reverse I don't know what the symbl is, D mint
1941 dime - silver - same as above but no mint on the reverse but what may be a W on the obverse
1944 dime same as the 1941

Hi JimiThing616

Ok you have a Buffalo nickle
3 V-Nickles or Liberty Nickles
1 Roosevelt dime
2 Barber dimes S and D mints
3 Mercury or Winged Liberty Dimes

Coins with no mint marks are Philadelphia minted coins
The S mint mark is San Francisco
The D mint mark is Denver

The only one that can be evaluated for value with the description given is the dateless Buffalo nickle,, worth about .10

The others we really need pics of the coins to estimate grade in order to give you any real Idea of their value.

There are no Key date coins in your list for any of the series represented but values can vary quite a bit by grade.

Can you post clear pics of both sides of the coins ?

Rick

I have to agree with Metalman. In evaluating coins, condition is everything and there are specific grading points on each coin. For example, on your 1903, 1907, and 1911 nickels (Liberty Head "V" nickels), the main grading point is whether LIBERTY is visible on the coronet and if so, how many letters, how clear, etc.

If you post pictures for grading, post them in the Coin Grading Practice section and ask for explanations for the grade opinions given. This is a good way to learn how to grade coins.

I agree; without an idea of the grade it is hard to come up with values.

However, I can give you some idea. In "average circulated" condition (a lot of wear - LIBERTY not visible or highly worn on the Liberty Head nickels and Barber dimes; worn but still reasonably clear on the Mercury dimes), these coins are worth perhaps 50 cents to a few dollars each. The Roosevelt dime is worth silver melt value unless it is uncirculated. Of course, the older coins are worth a lot more than this if they are uncirculated or nearly uncirculated. So we would need to see pictures to know for certain.

By the way, on the Mercury dimes, the W on the obverse is the designer's initial. The mint mark (if any) appears on the reverse.
