Hello again everyone,

I have a 1968 mint proof set and I believe two of the coins (50C and 25C) are cameo or possibly deep cameo. The set is in its original packaging from the mint but I noticed what may be ragged clip error on the Kennedy, just above the "I" in LIBERTY.. No idea if that deems the coin worthless or more valuable but I would like to hear some opinions on it. Here are some pictures I took with my iPhone 14 promax. I have a microscope but can't figure out how to get the SD card to work yet so this is the best I can do for now. The plastic casing has scratches and scuffing but the coins themselves are very clean.

Do you have a PC or Laptop? If so, connect your scope to it via a USB cord, then use the windows Camera App to view it on your monitor, then you can save it to the drive that way.

But onthe Kennedy - I don't think it is a clip, it look like damage to me - possibly when it was getting packaged.

Looks like damage on the rim. Not a Ragged Clip. https://www.error-ref.com/ragged-clips/

I was trying to do that but I run a different camera on this laptop and I can't figure out how to switch it over to the microscope. I will try and figure it out. My original thought was PMD but when I zoomed in there was somewhat uniform grooving as if it were machine made but I am just not experienced enough to make that call. Here is a little more zoomed in picture from my phone.

So does that type of damage devalue the coin greatly? Sad because it's such a beautiful coin besides that rim.

While you are looking at the coins with a microscope, check the nickel, too. The 1968-S proof nickel has a DDO version (NGC, Wexler), although I could not find a price estimate. The S/S repunched mint mark sells for ridiculous money. PR63 $50, PR65 $120, PR67 $550.

Set the type selector to PF, filter the year by 1968. Good hunting! =)

Didn't see anything interesting on the Nickel. I did figure out how to use the camera on my computer though. Here is a picture from the microscope of the rim damage.
