It looks like it might be the bronze core of a contemporary counterfeit (silver-plated) rupee from India, Mughal period. It had to be in a corrosive environment to remove the silver plating. Maybe traces of silver plating remaining near top on both sides.

I have tested it with X-ray fluorescent (XRF) analyzer and it says that the coin is gold plated.
It looks like some sort of counterfeit.

If it has traces of gold plating, then it was probably a counterfeit gold Mohur of the Mughal period. There are some similarities in the writing to coins of Aurangzeb, but I can't say anything more definite about what coin it was imitating. Maybe one of our experts on Indian coins will be able to identify the coin imitated.
